The harp is strung with folk gauge (non-pedal) gut, with the bass strings being metal-core with nickel or silver windings. The string spacing is a little neater than concert spacing (approximately one tenth less). Therefore the harp can be played easily and fast. The harp has an appropriate tension for the string weight, which means it has a big resonant sound and feels good to play. Harp strings The harp incorporates our own tuning pins and Camac semitone levers and bridge pins. Levers There is a choice of American Black Walnut, American Cherry or Maple hardwoods. Woods The arm is made from four pieces of timber glued in an overlap fashion to produce an extremely strong structure. The sound box is made from 11 solid timber staves. The soundboard is made from finest Bavarian spruce. The adhesive used is West System Epoxy resin, an adhesive originally developed for the boat building industry which results in joints which are stronger than the wood itself. Rather than individual feet, the harp has an integral base with rubber feet, making it very stable. It also has inserts to accept our harp stands. The finish is a sprayed on clear polyurethane varnish which enhances the wood and provides a hard wearing finish. The harp comes complete with a rubber tuning key.
